Railways and ports are exempted from power cuts under a state of disaster
The government has published the state of disaster regulations, exempting critical infrastructure (railways and ports, health facilities, water treatment plants, telecoms services and food storage facilities) from load-shedding – on condition it won’t result in an increased risk of higher stages of load-shedding. This comes as civil action group Outa has joined other groups in launching a court challenge against the president’s declaration of a state of disaster over the ongoing energy crisis.
