Ian is uniquely skilled as a Chartered Accountant, Entrepreneur and Turnaround Practitioner, which, combined with extensive practical experience, gives him the advantage of having witnessed, experienced, tackled and solved many complex challenges, both in his personal capacity and alongside his team.
Ian is the co-founder and CEO of Engaged Business Turnaround (EngagedBT), a multi-disciplinary end-to-end turnaround practice that prides itself on having the requisite collective skills under its umbrella to give every special situation the best possible chance of a favourable outcome. Under Ian’s leadership, in the 10 years since its incorporation EngagedBT has successfully completed a multitude of turnaround, restructuring and business rescue mandates across numerous industries.
Striving to perfect the art of teamwork, EngagedBT is well known for its ability to formulate creative, robust and practical turnaround plans, and to implement these with hands-on operational expertise, in a manner that seeks to achieve the “greater good” for the distressed business, in the balanced interest of all stakeholders.
Since 2021, EngagedBT has been recognised by Ansarada DealMakers Awards by being nominated three times for the “Business Rescue Transaction of the Year” award, which it won in 2023.
Ian is a licensed Business Rescue Practitioner and a member of SARIPA, SAICA and the TMA. He holds the CA(SA) qualification and the Certified Rescue Analyst qualification from the University of Pretoria.
