Holidays to the rescue for the tortured tourism sector
The summer holidays may provide welcome respite for the tortured tourism sector, forced to its knees by lockdowns, travel restrictions and red lists. Jeremy Clayton, Cape chair of the hospitality trade association the Federated Hospitality Association of SA (Fedhasa), says members have seen a good pick-up in numbers since October with a strong last-minute booking trend for Cape Town hotels. “The industry is expecting to have a reasonable season, but inferior to 2019,” he says.
