Dr. Raynold Sello Mkhondo is a Certified Turnaround Professional and a Senior
Business Rescue Practitioner (BRP) with nearly 30 years of experience in corporate
finance, business turnaround, and restructuring. Currently, he serves as the Director of Engaged Turnaround, where he is dedicated to simplifying complex challenges and providing practical solutions to distressed businesses.

Dr. Mkhondo’s career spans a variety of roles, from corporate banking, corporate
finance, and auditing to project finance and private equity. He began his professional journey in 1988 as a trainee accountant at Deloitte and later held senior management positions at prominent companies such as Telkom, SAB, and National Sorghum Breweries. His expertise in investment banking, honed through roles at ABN Amro, WipCapital, and Nedbank, ultimately led him to the field of business turnarounds.

Notable achievements in his career include successfully restructuring businesses and repositioning them for growth, both in South Africa and across Africa. He has worked on projects in Botswana, Kenya, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Malawi, and the DRC, and has played a key role in advising municipalities on revenue models and raising nearly R1 billion for infrastructure projects.
In addition to his turnaround work, Dr. Mkhondo is passionate about education. He is the founder and director of the Mkhondo Institute of Technological Education, which provides technical and scientific resources to the South African basic education
sector. He has published several research articles in academic journals and serves on the review panels for two leading journals. Dr. Mkhondo holds a B.Compt, H.Dip. Tax Law, MBA, and a PhD in Turnaround Management, alongside executive development programs from institutions like Georgetown University and the Kellogg School of Management.
