Caught up in Home Affairs dysfunction
SA’s visa administration problems are well recognised as a serious impediment to our economy. Some 56 000 foreigners working or intending to work in SA were facing having their visas cancelled at the end of March, purely because Home Affairs has been unable to process their applications. In a last-minute reprieve (2 days before expiry), their visas were extended until the end of the year. But the overall issue has not been solved. SA needs a credible visa system to attract FDI.
